Micronclean Summer School 2024: Empowering Future Talent

Micronclean Summer School 2024: Empowering Future Talent Blog22.08.2024

As students eagerly awaited their GCSE and A-Level results this summer, Micronclean UK had the privilege of hosting four exceptional placement students.

These young talents, having recently completed their studies or amid them, brought their fresh perspectives and skills to our Summer School program, making significant contributions to our projects while gaining invaluable experience in their respective fields. Here is a glimpse into their journeys with us.

Nellija

Nellija Zegele spent her summer immersed in the world of laboratory testing. Reflecting on her time at Micronclean, she shared:

"I have been working in the laboratory during my summer placement, and it has been a wonderful learning experience. I have been doing routine testing (ranging from microbiology to product testing) alongside working on my own individual projects in the lab. The lab team have been so supportive and helpful which has created a great working and learning environment to come into every day."

Nellija's dedication and enthusiasm have been evident throughout her placement. By working on different tasks and projects, she not only developed technical skills but also became an integral part of our laboratory team.

Louisa

Louisa Padley, a returning student, focused on a competitive pricing strategy for Micronclean's markets both in the UK and globally. Louisa's analytical skills and initiative-taking approach played a crucial role in this project. She reflected on her experience:

"This summer at Micronclean, I completed a competitive pricing strategy for the UK and various global markets. Since our competitors' pricing information was not readily available online, I reached out to colleagues within the company and other relevant contacts for assistance, while also trialling alternate methods to gather the necessary information. I then analysed the data to highlight Micronclean's current market positioning and made suggestions for improving pricing in specific markets or for certain products."

Louisa's work has provided valuable insights into our market positioning, and her recommendations will guide our pricing strategies moving forward.

Surendrakumar

Surendrakumar Jayasuriyan joined Micronclean as an R&D Assistant, where he took on a challenging robotics project. His passion for robotics was evident from day one, and his experience here has been both enriching and rewarding. Reflecting on his journey, Surendrakumar said:

"As a recent graduate, my two-month summer placement at Micronclean as an R&D Assistant has been an invaluable experience. I was entrusted with a robotics project that truly tested and expanded my skills. My enthusiasm only grew as I immersed myself in concept development, research, ideation, detailed drawings, and CAD—areas I am deeply passionate about. The welcoming and supportive team at Micronclean made the experience even more rewarding. Their guidance and the collaborative atmosphere have significantly boosted my confidence."

Surendrakumar's work has not only advanced our R&D efforts but has also prepared him for a bright future.

Tom Barker

Finally, Tom Barker, another returning student alumni, brought his expertise to our software development projects. Having collaborated with us for three consecutive summers, Tom shared:

"After coming back to work for the 3rd summer in a row, I've especially enjoyed this time around. The work has been massively diverse and dynamic, with me developing, changing, and fixing features in software from all sorts of different solutions the business has, whilst improving my programming and technical ability."

Tom's contributions have been vital to improving our software solutions, and his continued growth in programming has been impressive. We would also like to congratulate Tom in achieving his A-Level results which have earned him a place as an undergraduate student at St Andrews University.

Looking Ahead

As GCSE and A-Level results days remind us of the exciting potential each new generation brings, the Micronclean Summer School program aims to provide students with firsthand experience, allowing them to apply their academic knowledge in real-world scenarios. This year's cohort has exceeded our expectations, and we are proud to have been part of their professional journey. Micronclean's Managing Director, Robert Parker, enforced this message by commenting:

"The third year of our Summer School has, again, delivered valuable experience for the students and worthwhile results of the Company. The projects completed by the students are all in growth areas of the business. The success of the students this year give us the confidence to continue Summer School next year."

As we bid farewell to our placement students, we look forward to seeing the impact they will undoubtedly make in their future careers. At Micronclean, we remain committed to fostering the next generation of talent, and we eagerly anticipate the future of our Summer School program.
